The first round-the-world flight in a hydrogen-powered plane.

49SUD is responsible for the design and manufacturing of the first plane attempting to circumnavigate the globe using green hydrogen. This project, named Climate Impulse, is developed by Bertrand Piccard and Raphaël Dinelli. In 2028, the two men will take turns piloting the aircraft for over 40,000 km without stopping, with an estimated duration of 9 days.

Additionally, our engineering firm is also in charge of the flight test program (with Daher and the DGAC), solar cell encapsulation, and safety (with Airbus).

49SUD ensures to limit its carbon footprint and works in the cleanest manner possible. Indeed, our team in Vendée manufactures a large portion of the machinery used for the development of demonstrators in-house.

As an example, 49SUD had constructed its own mold for the fabrication of the wings of the ERAOLE aircraft. This mold will be recycled for other upcoming projects.

More recently, our team has created its own oven for molding parts. An energy-efficient oven designed using recycled containers.
